Growing up in a broken home, I have been exposed to a number of bad vices and have been with bad company. Those days were the darkest hours in my life, something I never would want to go back to but they were times that have made me stronger as a person. The one that saved me was this old guy from church, who has gotten me straight and change myself for the better. I am thankful to have him and to have been converted before I shorten my life with vices that I used to enjoy. He had gotten me into baseball, and told me that sports were a better use of my time.
Now I try to give back to society, because I know that there are people out there who are currently suffering the same fate that I used to have. At least I get to influence these kids and tell them that there is a better choice. I coach a baseball team in this youth facility and share with them the life I used to live so they can relate with me. We would usually schedule fundraisers so we can buy baseball gloves and bats that we would use for the center. That way, I can continue on with our efforts to help these kids and provide a brighter future for them.
