McGwire Cheered But Evades Questions

Mark McGwireMark McGwire received a standing ovation from St. Louis Cardinals fans in his first public appearance since he admitted to using steroids during his “homerun binge.” At a scheduled news conference shortly after, he got a lot of steroid questions. McGwire wanted to put the steroids behind him, and concentrate on the reason the Cardinals hired him.

 

McGwire plans to teach young hitters how to make their baseball bats make contact with pitched baseballs. That will be his main job. He’s trying to move in that direction and get the focus off of steroid use. McGwire says that steroid use is bad and that he made a huge mistake. He warns others to never, never go down that road…
