Aging Yankees Look to 200

World Champion New York YankeesOnce again, the New York Yankees put together a championship season in 2009, beating the Philadelphia Phillies 4-games to 2 in the World Series. After their first place finish with a record of 103-59 in the always-tough American League East, the Yankees breezed through the playoffs. Will (can) this “mature” team do it again in 2010?

One of the reasons for their success was setup man Phil Hughes. All he needed was a baseball, a pitchers mound, and his Rawlings baseball glove to compile a record of 18-holds with an ERA of 3.03. But the real question is will the aging core of this team be able to muster what it takes to repeat in 2010? I’m betting that won’t happen…
