Will 2010 be Better For Reds?

Cincinnati Reds BallparkThe Cincinnati Reds finished the 2009 season in fourth place in the National League Central with a record of 78-84. But that’s not the whole story. They had the best record in the National League for the last six-weeks of the season going 27-13. The young players on the team are playing better baseball.

 

For most of the season, they had major injury trouble having to use the disabled list a total of 21 times. That included extended periods of time without the use of valuable players. That would be huge for any team. Manager, Dusty Baker has said that the Reds had a “moral victory” over the 2008 season because they won four more games in ’09 than the year before. But really, the strong finish and the talented group of young players who are finally growing into their baseball gloves, is more than a “moral victory.” This team is only one or two years from going deeply into the playoffs…
