200 is Cubs “Next Year”…

Chicago Cubs Wrigley FieldThe Chicago Cubs, what can you say? They had a bad century and are working on their second. Maybe they’ll snap out of it and maybe we are not really in a recession, either! At any rate, the Cubs had a so-so year in 2009, finishing in second place behind St. Louis in the National League Central, with a record of 83-78.

The Cubs did manage to win their division in both 2007 and 2008, but this highly paid team has failed to win a single playoff game in the past six seasons. Although they could use a leadoff hitter and a proven run-producer in the middle of the lineup, they do have a strong nucleus of pitching. Also, with new team owners (they were sold in the off season to the Ricketts family) might come a new winning attitude. Perhaps if they get rid of all their Rawlings and Wilson gloves and switch to Akadema baseball gloves, it just might be the magic they need…
